KIng Kelson Cinhil Rhys Anthony Haldane, Prince of Meara and Lord of the Purple March, sovereign of the Kingdom of Gwynedd. Kelson inherited his throne after his father, King Brion, was murdered by the pretender Charissa of Tolan in 1121, who challenged Kelson's right to the throne during his Coronation ceremony a few weeks later. Kelson drew upon his Deryni magical powers to defeat this challenge to his reign.
Queen Araxie Haldane, Kelson's queen and second wife. (His first wife, Sidana of Meara, was murdered by her brother on their wedding day.) Araxie's friend Princess Rothana of Nur Hallaj helped to arrange Araxie's marriage with Kelson. Like her husband, Araxie is also Deryni.
Alaric Anthony Morgan, Duke of Corwyn. This infamous Deryni Duke was best friend to King Brion Haldane, and upon Brion's death he was instrumental, along with his cousin Duncan McLain, in helping Brion's son Kelson secure his inheritance by helping to invest him with the Deryni magical powers which were Kelson's birthright, both by the Haldane potential carried by all sons of his Royal line and by his mother's full-Deryni bloodline. Alaric's mother was Deryni, but his father was not. This, combined with his open use of his powers, made this "half-breed" and informally trained Deryni the object of suspicion by some members of the powerful Camberian Council as well as by those humans who believed that the use of Deryni powers was inherently evil.
Richenda de Morgan, Duchess of Corwyn, formerly Countess of Marley by marriage to the late Earl of Marley, Bran Coris. Mother of Brendan Coris, the present Earl of Marley, and also of Briony and Kelric Morgan, her children by her second husband Alaric Morgan. Unlike Alaric, Richenda has been formally trained in the use of her Deryni powers.
